Things to know before a treatment

When is the best time to have a treatment?

If you are having a treatment with me for the first time, please be aware that you may feel incredibly relaxed or tired afterwards.  Some clients notice other responses such as feeling a bit emotional or even shivery.   This is all quite normal and I will explain this to you in more detail when I see you; or you can find details on my After A Treatment page.

However, because of these responses, I advise new clients to book their treatment on a day where they can rest aftewards. Don't book your treatment on a day when you are due to go out for a heavy meal, or have a late night.  You will only undo all the benefits of your investment of a treatment.

If you are a female trying to conceive, please let me know. We can then time your reflexology treatments optimally around certain times of your menstrual cycle.

Please also let me know if you are undergoing any medical treatments, due a vaccination, or awaiting surgery or tests.  In certain instances, it would better to time treatments after these have been completed.

What should you wear for a treatment?

Please wear comfortable loose clothing so you can fully relax during your treatment. Loose fitting trousers, jogging bottoms, shorts, or a skirt are best so I can access your feet in full.

What should you bring with you?

Please bring a bottle of water with you so you can hydrate yourself properly after the treatment. Also, if you have experienced any changes since our first consultation, please bring details of these with you too.  These could be any changes to medication or contact details etc.

Why you may need to cancel your appointment

If you, or someone in your household, falls ill before, or on the day of our booking, please let me know immediately.   In certain cases, I may not be able to treat you either because you could be contagious, or the treatment could make you feel worse. So please contact me if you are showing signs of any of the following so I can assess the situation:

  • You have a fever or a temperature

  • You are being treated for an infection with antibiotics

  • You have a cough or are showing any signs of a cold or flu

  • You have lost your sense of taste or smell

  • You have come out in a rash or other skin reaction

  • You feel sick, or have been sick, or had an upset stomach within the last 24 hours

  • You have a migraine

  • You have a contagious condition such as shingles or impetigo

  • Have recently changed your medication or had a vaccination

Also, if you are due to undergo medical tests close to the date of your treatment, or have travelled abroad, please let me know as it may be better to rearrange our session for another date.

Where to find me

My home based therapy practice is registered with Essex County Council Trading Standards and is located in the Galleywood Road, Chelmsford, Essex (by the Running Mare pub); just 2 minutes from the B1007 turn off from the A12 for Stock/ Billericay/ Galleywood.  A map with my exact location will be provided with confirmation of booking along with parking details which is available on my drive.

The payment methods I accept

Payment for treatments can be made by bank transfer or cash if necessary. I do not accept card payments due to the associated charges. Please be aware that I only issue gift vouchers for existing clients who have previously had a treatment with me. This ensures my treatment(s) are suitable for the person receiving the voucher.

My hygiene policy

In the interest of everyone's wellbeing, I will contact you the day before every treatment to confirm that we are both feeling well such that our session can go ahead.

In respect of my treatment room, please be assured that I clean the are with disinfectant both before and after your treatment. All linen used on the treatment couch is freshly laid out for your treatment only, having previously been cleaned.

My cancellation policy

Should you have to cancel your appointment with me because of an emergency, or due to signs of feeling unwell, please be aware that I do not make any charge.   In cases of repeated cancellations though, I normally advise clients to cease treatments until they are ready to commit to regular sessions again.
